This series was commissioned by a private collector in Delhi, who was looking for a wall installation exploring the "Tree of Life" theme. I enjoyed building those forms, and I know I will come back to them at a later stage to investigate them further. Gold lustre was used to create a more ornamental effect, an aspect which largely contrasts with my usual approach. This was an opportunity to try something new and opened up many possibilities for later explorations.

A ceramic residency at Zorba The Buddha was an opportunity to create larger work for outdoor space. During two weeks in April, Eight artists from India and abroad shared a working space to create site-specific sculptures. The residency was curated by Vineet Kacker and the work is now on display in the gardens of Zorba The Buddha, a spiritual and cultural centre located in New Delhi, India.

The sculpture I created is called 'Elevation'. It portrays different states of mind and the flow between. From being closed to becoming open, looking towards the sky. From being dispersed to becoming centred, close to the earth. The red is our energy and the layers we wear.
